Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________The Canonflex R2000 was marketed from September 1960 (1962 in France).
It is the "advanced" version of the Canonflex. It differentiates itself by its maximum shutter speed, which reaches 1/2000, making it the fastest camera of its time.
Like the 1959 Canonflex, and then the Canonflex RP, a light meter attaches to a shoe just in front of the shutter speed dial. The speed dial couples with the light meter through a notched edge. The speed setting directly influences the light meter, which must be correctly adjusted to the speed. Once the ideal aperture is determined, it should be set on the lens.
It was not until the Canonflex RM in 1962 that the film advance lever was moved from the bottom of the camera, a less practical location when mounting the camera on a tripod.
A beautiful camera, as heavy as it is powerful, but its reliability was lacking.
